Headaches, drowsiness, jaw pain, and other daily discomforts may be a sign of something larger. Oftentimes, patients write common occurrences, including the ones listed, off rather than addressing what may be underlying oral health issues. Millions of adults suffer from disorders, such as sleep apnea and TMJ. If left untreated, this can lead to a daily struggle. That’s why we’re here to help.

What is TMJ Disorder?

Your jaw consists of two joints – one on either side of skull – called the temporomandibular joints. They help hinge your jaw open for speaking, chewing, yawning, and so forth. However, tightening flare-ups can happen in the muscles surrounding the joint, causing clicking, popping, and pain. This is temporomandibular joint disorder, commonly referred to as TMJ.

What is Sleep Apnea?

Sleep apnea is another very serious oral health concern. Commonly mistaken as a simple snoring issue, obstructive sleep apnea is actually the cessation of breath for several seconds at a time, multiple times  a minute. If left untreated, this can be extremely dangerous, as over time it deprives the brain of oxygen.
